A Beauty Minute with Mathilde Lacombe

You may remember our Beauty Minute series from our blog days. They were always some of our favorite posts (and yours too!) and we thought it was time to bring them back to the site! We're excited to share some familiar and new faces with you here, and to get to know their beauty routines.

Mathilde may be a familiar face here. We love her brand Aime for all things beauty and wellness, and her elegant (and very French) approach to how she's cultivated her life. She recently published a book Le Pouvoir de L’Assiette which focuses on nutrition too. Meet Mathilde!

What is your morning beauty routine? And your evening routine?

As a mother of three - and now with a puppy! - my routine has to be fast, efficient, and results-driven. I don’t have time for unnecessary steps, so everything I use needs to truly perform. In the morning, it’s all about protection and energy. I start with a gentle cleanse with our Gelée Micellaire, followed by our antioxidant serum for antioxidant support, and now that it's getting warmer I usually skip moisturizer and use our Soin quotidien SPF50 that we formulated in Korea. SPF is non-negotiable - it’s the most effective anti-aging step. I also take my supplements to support my skin from within (collagen, omegas, probiotics, creatine).

In the evening, I focus on repair. If I wear eye makeup I like removing it with micellar water first like the Doré one. Then I always double cleanse using our Gelée Micellaire and Baume Nettoyant, then use targeted actives like retinol and peptides in our Traitement resurfaçant, and finish with our barrier cream. It’s also a moment to reset - because beyond products, consistency and lifestyle are what really make the difference.

What products do you keep in your bag?

I have a lot of things in my bag but not that many beauty products because I almost never touchup during the day. I keep it very curated: a lip balm (or 5 haha !), I like Le Baume Doré, LA bruket lipbalm and a lip liner (I like the Farah Homidi) ...a hydrating face mist from our lab, a hand sanitizer, mattifying papers, our roll-on perfume. I also always have supplements with me (digestive enzymes, electrolytes).

How do you define beauty?

I think beauty is something deeply personal - everyone has their own perception of it, shaped by their culture, lifestyle, and experiences. For me, it’s very much aligned with a French approach: less is more. It’s not about perfection or transformation, but about enhancing what’s already there. I’m drawn to skin that looks healthy, balanced, and alive - skin that reflects how you feel inside. Ultimately, beauty is about consistency and long-term care. It’s how you nourish your body, your skin, and your mind over time!

When do you feel most beautiful?

It feels a bit boring to say this but I feel most beautiful when I feel aligned: well-rested, energized, and confident in my routine.  But also, very simply, when my husband or my children tell me. There’s something very grounding and genuine about that—it reminds me that beauty is not just how you see yourself, but also how it’s felt and reflected by the people around you.

Why did you decide to write your book, Le Pouvoir de L’Assiette?

I wrote Le Pouvoir de L’Assiette because I deeply believe that what we eat has a direct impact on our skin, our energy, and how we age. I wanted to create a practical guide - simple, accessible, but rooted in science- to help people understand how to use nutrition as a powerful tool for beauty and longevity. It’s really an extension of my vision and what we do at Aime: beauty is not just topical, it’s a way of living!

And we have to ask, what's your favorite address in France?

One of my favorite address in France would be Lily of the Valley, in the south of France. It’s a wellness-focused luxury hotel with a very holistic approach to health, from nutrition to movement and treatments. We host annual retreats there with some of our customers, which makes it particularly meaningful: it’s a place where we can truly bring the Aime philosophy to life!
