A Clean Way to Clean Your Face

Author: Doré
As we all know, keeping our face clean is important for healthy skin. But did you know that the way you cleanse your face can affect its cleanliness and overall health?First and foremost, it's important to wash your hands before touching your face. Our hands come into contact with all sorts of bacteria throughout the day, and we don't want to be transferring that to our face. So, start by thoroughly washing your hands with soap and warm water.Next, choose a gentle cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type. Avoid harsh scrubs or cleansers with strong fragrances, as these can irritate and dry out your skin. Whether it’s a rinse free cleansing option like La Micellaire or a more traditional cleansing option like Le Cleanser, it’s great to use a cleanser that is hydrating and doesn’t strip the skin. Cleanser that get foamy often contain surfactants that will dry out the skin. Once you have your cleanser, wet your face with lukewarm water and apply the cleanser with your fingertips. Gently massage the cleanser into your skin in circular motions, paying extra attention to areas with makeup or oil build-up. If you’re using Le Cleanser, you can gently rub the eyes to remove any mascara or eye make up. You should be cleansing for 2 minutes with a traditional cleanser to really get the skin squeaky clean. With La Micellaire, just soak a cotton round and carefully swipe over the skin. Sometimes it may take a few cotton rounds to get everything off - we suggest to keep going until the cotton round no longer has any dirt or make up on it.After cleansing, rinse your face thoroughly with lukewarm water. Make sure to remove all traces of the cleanser, as any leftover residue can clog pores and cause breakouts. Pat your face dry-ish with a clean towel, being careful not to rub or tug at your skin. We recommend leaving the skin a tiny bit damp before applying any serums or moisturizers. Finally, it's important to clean your cleansing tools. If you use a washcloth or cleansing brush, make sure to wash it thoroughly after each use. Yes, we really mean every single use. Bacteria can build up on these tools and transfer back to your skin, so it's important to keep them clean. It’s pretty simple, but so important to take care to keep your hands and tools clean to make sure your cleansing routine isn’t causing any unwanted skin scaries. Happy cleansing!
