Garance Doré: Five Weird Beauty Things I Do
Author: Garance Doré
1/ I epilate my forearms.Yes you read it well, with an epilator. I saw a friend do that once and I thought she was absolutely insane, which I told her, and she replied me she wasn’t—she just loved the feeling of bare arms, and that I should try it. And just like that, I was hooked. For some reason, I have literally zero pain when I do it—at worst, it tickles—and it’s so easy, and it takes months to grow back.2/ I never put nail polish on my toenails.I just like them bare and polished with a buffer. The history behind it is ridiculous and yucky, but let’s just say that all too often I’ve felt like toe nail polish is only there to hide very unsightly nails, and that I might have done that at one point, and that now that I have beautiful healthy toe nails, it is all I want to show off. Subjects closed, don’t ask—you don’t want to know.3/ I’ll never let anyone tweeze my eyebrows……And I am the worst at shaping them. I have so few eyebrow hairs that I cherish them—take the wrong one out and I gave a gapping hole in my eyebrows. It’s been a problem all my life, and serums have been helping for sure, but the paranoia is real. So if you’ve ever wondered about my brows’ very imperfect shape, that’s the reason.4/ I don’t frown.Okay, sure, nowadays this may or may not be helped by Botox, but before that, a long time ago, when I was fifteen, I taught myself not to frown. It was a real exercise in relaxing my muscles, it wasn’t easy—and, sadly, is an indicator of my level of vanity—but it worked!!!5/ I use too much of everything. This is a habit I caught when I was working in fashion and beauty. I used to receive so many products for free that I’d want to try them all, but I still was very well crippled with my scarcity mindset (it’s still here if you’re wondering—harder to get rid off than wrinkles or sun stains!) and would never have allowed myself to throw away lotion that wasn’t finished. So instead, I tripled the doses. This is one of the reasons the Doré containers are so generous, by the way—so you can enjoy them a little more guilt free ;)G
