The Staub cocotte has roots that go back to the heart of French culinary traditions. The brand itself was founded in 1974 by Francis Staub in Alsace, a region in France known for its rich food culture and classic cast-iron cookware. Staub set out to create a pot that would enhance the art of French cooking and stand the test of time, merging traditional craftsmanship with innovative design.
The Staub cocotte was designed to be durable and functional - making it a true essential - and is made from cast iron, which prevents rust and also evenly distributes temperature and therefore flavor. One of its unique features is the self-basting lid, with little “spikes” inside that help redistribute moisture evenly over food. The cocotte captures the essence of French slow-cooking techniques, like braising, making it ideal for traditional dishes such as coq au vin and pot-au-feu, some of our favorites for this time of year.
The Staub cocottes are crafted in the same Alsatian foundries where the original cocottes were made, preserving the brand’s legacy of quality and its heritage of Made in France.
