Do you take supplements?

“Oh, I take at least 25 different pills everyday!” my beauty obsessed friend was telling me. ”That’s a lot,” I said, and then realised that I was probably not so far from her world record.

And I don’t even think that I supplement enough. I don’t even take vitamin D!!! Have we all fallen prey to a huge marketing scheme, or are supplements actually helping us?

I am not sure, but I am biased, because since I started taking liposomal Vitamin C last week, I’ve been feeling a completely new surge of energy, so I’ll keep doing it.

The problem, I find, is not so much taking a lot of supplements. As long as you know what you’re addressing—and that they’re safe—why not? I am okay taking my liver capsules (that’s for my anemia), my probiotics for my gut flora, my probiotics for my intimate flora, my collagen (that’s for my skin), my hair and nails solution (that’s, well… ) and all the rest.

The problem is that each of them has different instructions. And that is driving me mad.

There are the morning ones, the evening ones, and the ones that need to be popped three times a day. There are those that need to be taken on an empty stomach and those during a meal. This is a full time job and I am not built for that. I literally have built a supplement schedule and I fail at it every other day.

And then I had to add to it my red light therapy, which I fully believe in. But like supplements, it only works if you actually do it regularly. Having those in your closet doesn’t work. Full-time job, I’m telling you.

I long for the days when I was saying that food is enough to provide you with all the nutrients you need. I found out after a blood test that it wasn’t true for me. Emily, on the contrary, has fallen prey to an even bigger scheme, and—as usual—I think she might the smart one. She takes AG1 everyday, and that’s IT. Maybe not as targeted as my crazy regimen, but she has a life ;)
