This might be a hot take but I truly believe in make up. I’m saying a hot take because
it sounds good
I feel like in today’s beauty world, it’s almost like we’re expected to have a picture perfect, unrealistic skin before we even put a layer of foundation on. And it drives us to go a tiny bit crazy.
A healthy skin is a living and breathing thing of magic. It adapts to temperatures, to luminosity and environments to keep that first layer between us and the world. A healthy skin will also have some moments when it's not so healthy, very often informing us about what is going on inside of us, whether it’s stress, digestive or hormonal issues.
This is why having a dialogue with our skin is so important, being able to understand it.
This is why being too harsh on it, when it doesn’t look exactly the way we want, is not always the solution. Scrubs, peels and active ingredients have their place in a beauty regimen, but it has to be done extremely consciously, and ideally not constantly.
And this is why I love make up so much. Because it takes over to do the the things we can’t always ask of our skin. Great foundations can be life changers.
I have combination skin that shines very easily—it’s made me self-conscious my whole life, even though I know that it’s one of the reasons I am not too wrinkly (that and the
Botox
) and that’s why I am addicted to translucent powders. I don’t have very strong eyebrows. I did tattoo them once but found the process so harsh that I worried what little I had of brows would fall. I decided not to do it again. But you know what? Eyebrow make up is great. I could go on.
Beauty is not about perfection, it’s about finding what works for us. I find my perfect balance by being gentle on my skin, always asking her what she thinks of a product by testing it for a few days before adopting it, and by finding make up that finishes it all—and makes it fun!!!

My favorite routine right now:
Doré Le Cleanser
Doré La Crème
Iris and Romeo Weekend Skin with SPF 50
Merit Flush Blam
Hourglass Translucent powder
Hourglass Bronzer
Mac Eyeshadow palette
Rouge Baiser Crayon Sourcils
Iris And Romeo Mascara
Doré Le Baume
on the lips
Sounds like a lot, but it takes 3 minutes to apply, and then I am fresh and ready!
