Garance Doré: Bonjour Paris
Author: Garance Doré
If you follow me here, maybe you’ve followed me on different platforms over the years—and you might know that starting in 2025, I’ll be spending a lot more time in Paris. One of the reasons is Doré. Emily’s and my belief in a French approach to beauty runs so deep that Doré started as a love letter to the pillars of French beauty—performance, effortlessness and timelessness—and has now evolved into a full blown love affair.I had lived abroad for so long that France felt like a faraway dream, and suddenly we were back into the city of lights to work on our formulations at our très très serious French labs. In between meetings, we would run around town and I kept feeling like the city was calling me back.Cut to three years later and I’m having coffee with my friends at Café de Flore, still a tourist but increasingly feeling like a local, and all is confirmed—French women are at ease in their skin.“Bien dans sa peau” as we say in France. They wear little to no make up, they rarely talk about their age, they feel like they walk around unencumbered. They take great care of themselves but they’ve always done it. It’s part of the culture passed on from generation to generation. I am learning a lot, a lot that I will share with you soon.Leaving home is a complicated affair, but it definitely gives you a special outlook on your own culture. I can see clearly now why the world is so fascinated by the French Touch and why Doré is so relevant in today’s beauty landscape.Thank you for being part of our journey and stay tuned for more French beauty in the months to come. And please let me know if you have any questions!G
