I’ve always thought that, out of all the adjectives used to describe beauty, my favorite one has to be “fresh.” “Fresh,” to me, is not about youth or perfection. It’s a sense of cleanliness, a breath of air, and of the lightness you feel when joy and excitement are around.I’ve always favored a clean, bright skin with rosy cheeks to layers of foundation and contouring. I’ve constantly tried to achieve a naturally shiny hair which doesn’t look over processed. Fresh is a big smile, a face that moves to the rhythm of its emotions, an energy.It also applies to style and it comes down to things not feeling too heavy on the eye. I love fashion that lets me move and be in the moment. And as I age, looking fresh is one of my goals. A lot of mature women will tell you—the more you age, the less make up is necessary. That’s because on a more mature skin, make up can get cakey and heavy. Older women who look fresh in real like are very minimal on their make up routine.I’ve just picked up running again. Nothing makes me feel better than putting on my sneakers, closing the door and running around my neighborhood in Paris. Down to the Seine, across to the Tuileries, through the Louvre. I come back and I am filled with joy, pride at my small accomplishment, and inspiration.My cheeks are rosy and my future feels bright. It takes so little to feel fresh.
